Music, Space and Architecture
Text auf Englisch
The relation between architecture and music has a long history. This is maybe not as self-evident as the connection between architecture and space, but in addition to sight, smell and touch, hearing also determines space to a great deal. “Music, Space and Architecture” is what happened when a group of researchers, designers, performing musicians and composers got together in the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture to explore the potential of music as a means of reflecting space. Contributors such as Maarten Kloos, Cilia Erens and Justin Bennet raise questions about how sound and music can influence the atmosphere of a space, or vice versa. By putting the space first in rank this publication brings a fresh view on the relation between architecture and music.
