Brownbook #52 – The Falafel Issue
Text in Englisch
9,00 €

Brownbook is a guide to the contemporary Middle East and North Africa focusing on design, travel and other culture. The falafel issue investigates the deep connection of tradition and food. While a lot of food changes over time, some stays the same due to its use and social value. Falafel may have a global reputation but it is foremost a “marker of Arab Identity”.
Next to its main theme with stories about falafel in the Sahara, illegal falafel in Sweden and a falafel drive-in in the 60′s, this issue features an interview with Rym Beydoum, a rising fashion designer in Addis Ababa, reports about the Bahrain Pavilion at the Expo and the largest Kurdish community in Nashville – because “there is nothing like a Kurdish barber”.
