AA Files #75 is a perfectly neat journal, one in a series of anthologies investigating architectural matters from all over the globe. First released in 1981 by Alvin Boyarsky, AA Files follows on a long tradition of house journals released by the London’s Architectural School of Architecture since 1847. Designed and produced by the John Morgan studio, and featuring a conversation between Thomas Daniell and famed Japanese architect Shin Takamatsu and essays by sixteen contributors covering a variety of detailed and exciting accounts from the field, including an analysis of Adolphe Appia’s work and personality, the use of shell in Paul Rudolph’s architectural buildings, the ‘S Adam’ store on Friedrichstrasse in Berlin and its historical connections to architectural and design productions in the city and elsewhere, and glimpses on Chicago’s postmodern architecture.
