Spaces of Uncertainty
- Berlin Revisited
€ 39,95

Edited by Kenny Cupers and Markus Miessen, Spaces of Uncertainty (all texts in german) critically examines the urban development trajectory which Berlin took after the fall of the wall. The contributors in this book demonstrate how the city’s urban transformations since then didn’t effectively succeed in removing the sense of division that long characterized its spatial composition. Photographs taken in 2001 and 2006 show how large deserted areas turned into lively residential neighborhoods and how underground meeting venues became business hubs. In the midst of it all, Berlin still preserves rich pockets for innovative culture having little interest in business or the quiet of residential neighborhoods, hence this book’s call to consider these pulsing reserves in future planning and development.
